Huge Title
Welcome to Joylen
We are a small alpaca stud nestled in the lush and green paddocks of southern NSW. We have just 21 alpacas with five cria (baby alpacas) due this autumn. We have mostly white alpacas, but we also have several light fawns, one medium fawn, two dark fawns and one dark brown. You can see the colour range available in the Shop page. Our alpacas are happy animals with varied personalities. Having such a small number of alpacas we get to know them all very well.
All the items we make are lovingly hand-crafted using fleece from our much-loved alpacas. All items are pure alpaca, and we never blend fleeces. From shearing through to the manufacture of the finished item the entire process is done by hand. For more details on the process please have a look at the Product Creation page.
As each alpaca is unique, each fleece is unique and some are more suitable for specific projects, for example in spinning a thinner yarn or a thicker yarn. We tend to use the thinner yarns for the woven items. All items we produce can be traced back to a particular animal who has a unique personality and history. You can meet the alpacas on the Meet the Alpacas page.
We only use all natural materials including natural wood or shell buttons. Alpaca is classed as a luxury fibre as it is very fine, light and soft with a high comfort factor. It was considered by the Incas to be “Fibre of the Gods”.
Alpacas have a very light impact on pastures, so they are not damaging to the environment. The fleeces we grow are ethically and sustainably produced. We try very hard to ensure the alpacas have a happy life.
We will be updating the Blog page as we have new or interesting events at the farm. For example new cria being born or new products for sale. At the moment we mainly offer children’s and baby’s clothes, but we can produce items for adults and larger items. If you have a look at the Special Commissions page you will be able to see other offerings available. We are also selling some surplus fleeces. It is very hard for us to part with any of the fleeces as we love all of them.
