Product Creation
We shear the alpacas once a year in late October and carefully select only the best quality and finest parts of the fleece. There are several steps to turn the raw fleece into the finished garment. All of these are done by hand. The raw fleece is inspected, and all vegetable matter removed. Then the fleece is hand combed and hand spun into yarn. The yarn is carefully washed many times to remove any dirt as alpacas do love to roll on the ground which they really enjoy. Then finally the yarn can be hand crafted into a range of different items.
Alpaca fibre has a very high comfort factor. This means that people who find sheep’s wool itchy to wear can find alpaca garments very comfortable. It is also incredibly soft, light and warm. The Incas called it “Fibre of the Gods” and it was at one time reserved for royalty and the elite. The Incas believed that the alpaca was given to them by Pachamama – the mother earth goddess.

Product Care
The best way to care for your item is to hand wash it in a special wool wash or with pure soap. Do not scrub or rub the item.
Then dry the item flat in a well-ventilated area but not in full sunlight. Drying items on the line may lead to undesirable stretching of the garment as the wet garment is much heavier.
Never machine wash, wring or tumble dry the item.
